When retail investors discover TiiCKER, some have questions about how stock perks work. So the editorial team periodically digs into our mailbag to answer some common questions about TiiCKER. We want you to get the most out of the platform that rewards shareholders for simply owning stock in their favorite companies.
Question: “I work for a small (relatively speaking) publicly traded company and we are interested in rewarding our retail shareholders with a perk on TiiCKER. We want to use it as a way to connect with our individual investing community, but we aren’t sure where to start. We have a limited budget and want to get the most bang for our buck.
“My question is this: In your experience, what stock perks work best on TiiCKER and attract the most attention from individual investors? Frankly, I’m surprised by some of the stock perks I see on the platform. As a consumer brand, we thought that offering discounts on our products might be a good shareholder reward, but we see some pretty unique perks offered on TiiCKER. What will work best for our company?” – Shaina M., Houston.
Answer: Shaina, you ask a very interesting question that is hard to answer with limited information about your company. But rest assured, the team at TiiCKER can help you find the right plan for your company to start engaging with your community of retail shareholders. Reach out to our team today.
Different shareholder rewards work differently for different companies. I’m going to answer your question by pointing out a few perks that have worked well for our existing partners and I’ll go over the different investor rewards that are currently being used on the platform.
Many of our brand partners offer gift cards and they are extremely popular. And there are ways to balance your budget with your desire to connect with retail shareholders, even when offering gift cards. A good example is how Real Good Foods (Tii:RGF) offers gift cards of different values to individual investors based on the number of shares owned. The more shares of Real Good Foods owned, the higher the value of the gift cards offered. Real Good Foods offers four tiers starting at 100 shares for its Real Good Perk, which includes a $50 gift card to the company’s store and a $25 Visa gift card, up to its Real VIP Perk for investors with 3,750 shares or more who can sample the company’s latest products and receive a $500 Visa gift card (with a one week holding period).
I hope you noticed in the real example above Real Good Foods offered its most loyal shareholders more than just a gift card. They are offering retail shareholders a unique experience – the opportunity to sample the company’s latest products before they hit the market. I point this out because experiential perks are some of the most popular on our platform.
Lionsgate (Tii:LGF.A) does a great job offering experiential perks that its retail shareholders absolutely love. Lionsgate Shareholder Red Carpet Rewards is the company’s program for shareholder perks on TiiCKER. Lionsgate and TiiCKER just gave one lucky company shareholder a trip to the world premiere of the latest John Wick film. And even though it was a one-off perk, Lionsgate has several experiential rewards available, including commemorative stock certificates for some of its most popular film franchises.
Willamette Valley Vineyards (Tii:WVVI) also offers experiential rewards in addition to discounts on its award-winning wine. The company offers shareholders winery tours and exclusive access to some of its wine.
You mentioned the fact that your company is a consumer brand. Many of our consumer brand partners offer shareholders discounts to their products or company swag. Examples include Whirlpool (Tii:WHR), which offers a discount to shareholders on its family of products. Wolverine Worldwide (Tii:WWW) also offers its retail shareholders discounts on its brands like Bates, Chaco, HyTest, Hush Puppies, Keds, Merrell, Saucony, Sperry, Stride Rite and others.
We understand your company is on a tight budget, especially in these uncertain times. Shareholder rewards can be designed to be as broad or narrow as you’d like. We can and do work to help companies find the right reward level for you and your loyal individual investors.
